Position Summary

Responsible for meeting customer requirements for the manufacturing of solar devices from receiving raw material to the shipping of finished goods.  Supports and enforces the development of internal systems and procedures to meet ISO standards and regulations. Develops and implements inspection/validation techniques necessary to verify products meet requirements at earliest point in the production process. Specifies and implements new inspection equipment and instructs others in its proper use. Supports and implements systems in the areas of SPC, production control, material control, inspection and advanced quality.

Our facility also produces an innovative, ultralight, 17-pound 520w module, designed for commercial rooftops and low-load-bearing structures, bringing solar to places traditional panels can’t reach.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the development and implementation of all Quality systems, processes and procedures that encourage continuous improvement for manufacturing and meet ISO 9001 and all customer quality system requirements.
  2. Lead our ISO9001 initial registration and subsequent audit process.
  3. Directly communicate with customers on complaints, CAPAs, and information requests.
  4. Supervise and train personnel in the inspection of raw materials, in-process and finished goods by using statistical sampling techniques and precision measuring instruments to check conformance to requirements.
  5. Proactively detect/prevent potential quality issues and drive appropriate improvements. 
  6. Define and track appropriate quality metrics / KPIs.
  7. Facilitate the support materials for Management Reviews
  8. Lead the Internal Audit process.
  9. Provide training on our QMS to new and existing employees
  10. Work in conjunction with production team members to ensure all resources are knowledgeable and competent in the use and care of measuring equipment and related requirements such as calibration, recording of data, expected variability, etc.
  11. Provide day-to-day oversight of quality including batch testing, inspection, calibration, environmental monitoring, qualification, document review, etc.
  12. Create and support Engineering Change Requests and Supplier Change Requests.
  13. Support both internal and external audits of all corporate quality systems and demonstrate compliance through objective evidence. Responsible for PFEMA development, PPAP submissions, NPI, and other Quality requirements

Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Minitab skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.  Demonstrates problem solving skills, applying effective, data-driven, mistake-proofing concepts. Strong project management skills.  Excellent follow-up skills.  Must be able to work with limited supervision and actively participate in a team-oriented, continuous improvement, manufacturing environment.  

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in Quality in an advanced manufacturing setting.  Must have 5 years experience in a leadership role.
